Rough Copy of Story Board

 

We decided to do a rough copy of the story board just to see what ideas we could put together. This proved very helpful as we know now we need a variety of even more shots to be able to fill all of the music and keep our target audience entertained. We are still going to stick with the original story line just add a lot more detailed shots and close-ups.

 

Weather Forecast for Film Days

The weather on the three days that we would like to film seem to be appropriate however if the weather does turn bad we have decided to take warmer clothing and work with the weather rather than around it. This forecast shows that it would be cloudy and not very windy, this is what we would want anyway especially for November time of year.

Equipment

• Cannon 350 D DSLR

Beth and I decided that we would use three filming camera's throughout our two days as we could receive a wider variety of shots and angles. The advantage to this is that we would be able to have more than enough footage and when we need any fillers or transitional shots we could use any extra footage. To make sure we keep the quality of our filming to the standard of how we and our audience would expect to see it, we are taking Tri-pods for each of the cameras. We are also taking a regular camera for snap shots, character profiles, location, visual proof of equipment and what we did throughout the day as well as using some shots for CD cover and/or a poster. As we don't own any portable or professional lighting we decided to film mainly during the day, however if we desperately needed any extra shots or we decide we want some, we would use the car head lights to high light the actors. Beth owns some portable speakers and this would help us when we need to match the music to shots as well as the lip-syncing. Recently a lot of pop music videos have also included speakers or dancing with speakers in their video so there may be a couple of shots we could include if on the day it seems appropriate.

Potential Problems

• Rain/Wind - The weather could turn badly and may jeopardisethe atmosphere that we will be aiming for.

• The fairground stall owners may not allow us to film their stall.

• Fairground might not be open.

• The tide may be in and/or the sea is very unpredictable.

• The male may not be able to make our film day and so would result in us having to find a back-up in short notice.

To work around these problems we would have to either postpone the filming dates or try to work with the weather. We would have to travel up the coast to our "back-up" fairground, where it is similar to the Skegness fairground it is just further to travel. Whether the tide is in or that the sea is rough, we could still use clips of it as it is and we can work around it as there is a sea wall which could work just as effectively as on the beach. If for whatever reason our male cannot make the filming days we have one other friend who wouldn't mind stepping in if we really need him.

Prop List

 

 For our props we researched through different pop/beach music videos to see what they used as their props. A lot of videos included food, we chose to look specifically at Candy-floss as it is a typical fairground/beach food. We also thought that our female character should be portrayed as sweet and innocent and so we thought candy-floss looks the most innocent as well as tasting sweet! Another sea-side food is chips so we have decided to have our leads eating a bag of chips on the pier and maybe on the beach as well. On the pier we are going to use shots of the girl looking through a telescope at the beach and then typically notice the guy on the beach. We have decided to do this as we can use a fish-eye effect as well as it fits well with our narrative.

Actors

Briefing:

We first briefed our actors about the story line; that it is a stereotypical movie-love story set in England at the beach/fairground. We have told them that the genre is pop and that it is an upbeat song which puts across the vibe of happiness and youthfulness. We also told them that we wanted it to look as natural as possible and try not look forced, so anything that feels or comes naturally we would be open to do or try.

Actors Profile:

Female - Bronwyn, A2 Drama student

As well as featuring in this video I will also be helping to produce as part of my A2 Media course alongside Beth. I am 5"5ft, Blonde hair and Blue eyes. We have noticed in a lot of pop music videos blonde performers usually have a tall dark male in their videos.







Male - Hayden Cirino, full time work

Hayden was a previous member of Drama at AS level group and knowing this we thought he would be appropriate. He is 5"11ft, Dark hair and Hazel eyes. We decided he would also be appropriate as he fits in with the conventional pop video male type against the bleached blonde female lead singer. We also thought it was convenient as he doesn't have any serious commitments like school at the moment.

 

 

Female Costume

 Beth and I decided we would look at loose clothing or oversized tops which would be relevant to ther pop genre as well as the narrative. However we may need to rethink this as the time of year we will be filming in is October. With this in mind our alternative costume would be quite wrapped up, the knit wear and scarf look. We have decided to go for quite sandy yellows and light autumn colours to brighten up the video as well as to make it look happy and positive. This would also become relevant to the surroundings as we couldn't have a summer look with autumn surroundings.
